Well the yarn harlot said so, it must be true!!!
A sport is defined as "a physically and mentally challenging activity carried out with a recreational purpose for competition, self-enjoyment, to attain ecellence for the developemtn of a skill or some combination of these"
Clearly according to this definition KNITTING IS A SPORT!!!
Describing knitting as a sport goes a long way toward making us less crazy in the eyes of the rest of the world. People accept passion for a sport, and if you put knitting in this context, you no longer have to explain why you find it so intereting. Sports are interesting,. If thousands of people can cather in stadiums all over the world and watch grown men in thight pants try to move a ball from one end of the grass to the other then surly a person can develope an interst in watching a loop of yarn move from one needle to another. It's really all a matter of perspective.
If knitting is a sport you don't have to explain why you have a neddle collection, swift, or ball winder. Sports have equipment. You dont have to explain why you have so many patterns. Sports have training books and playbooks. Knitting classes and groups, sounds like practice with the coach. You don't have to explain the boundless interest and passion for knitting as long as grown men are painting their shirtless bodies with team colors. You dont have to explain all the yar....Well, you may have to explain all the yarn but wouldn't it be easier to explain if there was a closet full of hockey equipment right next to it? I think so too!!!

Alyssa's Slippers
One of my friends, have been bugging me for a few weeks now, she asked me if I could knit slippers for her daughter, she's one (actually she wanted them for her birthday last week)
I didn't know what to do, and wasn't sure what do you knit a 1 year old, but after a few patterns, and a whole lot of yarn, I came up with this.

I hope she likes them!!!

Three Things.........
That Knitters would like others to understand.
1. We can knit and listen at the same time. Just because I'm knitting dosen't mean that you don't have my attention, I'm multi-tasking!!
2. The best you can buy me is YARN!! Do not think that because I have a lot of yarn, I don't need more. I have a lot of yarn, because I like it.
3. Even though I'm cursing and gritting my teeth so hard that you could crack diamonds between them, I assure you that I like knitting. I think it's fun and I am relaxing.

ITE IV
Ok the bag is finished and in the mail, and hopefully it will be to my partner today. It was another fun project and not to worry it was frogged back about a million rows.
I have to admit when it comes to knitting bags I'm a bit of a rebel, I like to make them up myself, I like to try new and fun things, and come up with my own patterns. So yet again this is what I did.
Maybe I can try not to knit like this, but I doubt this is going to happen.

Because 9 innings wasn't enough.
Ok last night we went out for my best friends birthday and we decieded to go to a baseball game....ok it was minor league independent ball, but hey thats cool too.
We had a great time, and a fun night. But....unfortunatly the game from the night before was rained out and that meant a double header for last nights game.
Ok, that's not so bad 2 games each with 7 innings, but someone deceided they weren't going to score a run and the 1st game went into extra innings....3 of them actually the home team finally won it in the 10th.
The second game wasn't looking too promsing for a while all the way up until the 6th it was a tie score of 2-2.
But after a few hits and a couple of runs they won 6-2. WOOHOO!!!

A day of knitting and a day of frogging!!!
Ok, so I ripped out my entire bag that I'm knitting for my ITEIV partner (I'm sorry) it had to be done, I just wasn't happy with it and I want it to be great, so this is the 3rd or 4th time that's its been frogged, this time the entire bag, I just really didn't like the way it came out. SOOOOOOO here we go again, and hey I still have 2 weeks to finish it....don't worry it'll get ripped out 2 or 3 more times.
But on the postive side. I knit my best friend a little change purse/wallet for her birthday (since she's been begging for a bag for awhile now and I haven't done one for her....i did something little.
It took about 2 hours and I was able to finish it today.
So hopefully I'll be able to get the big bag done.....soon!!!

What happens in Mexico.....
Stays in Mexico...or not, since I'm about to tell you all about it.
I had a great time, as you can tell by all the pictures that are floating around (and yes feel free to coment on any of them if you like)
It was a well deserved fun filled week. Ok, so I had to work awww poor me. But I think a total of 8 hours of work over 5 days, really wasn't to bad.
A little 2 hour welcome meeting (aka long drawn out speech) followed by dinner and drinks (ok so that makes up for some of the meeting) the the next day I had to get up at 6am to be at yet anothe meeting this time for 4 hours (again poor me) this time followed by a vendor visit yet another 2 hours of beach time lost.
But after that we were pretty much free, Other than our little activity of Snorkeling and Sailing....and oh yeah....drinking (I see a pattern forming here)
And yet again, after snorkeling, back to the beach, then dinner, then drinks...see I told you a pattern.
Finally it's now time to go home on Friday morning, this is where all hell breaks loose.
I get up nice and bright and early. to be checked out of the hotel and on the bus back to the airport by 9am. Thats ok, I don't mind it, the only thing I wasn't looking forward to was my 4 hour layover in atlanta, but hey I figured that would give me some time to get my bags and clear customs, and immigration.
Actually I did all that stuff in record time, all done in less then 30 minutes...woohoo now only 3 1/2 hours to kill....oh wait no, lets try 5 1/2 hours to kill, my flight was delayed for an hour to take off then another hour waiting on the tarmac because bad weather in Dallas screwed up all the flights into New York and as we all know it's a huge chain reacation.
The only plus was, I paid $75.00 to upgrade to 1st class...which by the way was well worth every penny that I paid for it, especially since we sat on the plane for an hour....and yet the night is still not over.
I finally land in Newark, and after all that, get into my car drive out of the airport to realize that there was a huge backup at the GW Bridge.
THE LOWER LEVEL WAS CLOSED!!!!! UGGGHHHH!!!!
So the ride that took me a little over an hour to get to Newark to me 3 1/2 to get home. (Thanks to Dawn I had someone to talk to the entire ride)
All in all it was a great trip. And if anyone wants to see all the pictures just let me know and I'll send them off to you.
And remember....What happens in Mexico....Stays in Mexico!!!

Ok.....
So I guess, I may just need that afghan after all.
It's 50 degrees out today, so I'm at work and chilly, that nice warm little blanket would do the trick today.
See sometimes things work out for me.....I said sometimes.

The Stash Blanket
Ok, as we all know, I have more yarn then I know what to do with. So I figured out something to do with some of it.
About 3 weeks ago, I deceided I was going to use some of my stash and make an afghan.....hey 3 weeks ago, we had that little cold front and it was in the 40's at night so it worked.
But all in all I like the way it came out and if it dosen't get used until fall thats ok too.
Hope everybody likes it. I know I do!!!
And in case you are wondering about the size, it's about the width of a twin, and about 5 feet long, so not quite the size of a twin blanket, but it'll work

Boot Scoot Boogie!!
Yes, I did the boot scoot boogie, last night well...sorta. I was sitting down on the lawn when I did it, but you get the picture.
Last night was a bit of a surprise....but let me tell you how it began. I was at work yesterday afternoon, and got an email from one of the radio stations that said if you can find a little guitar on their website you would be entered in to win 1 of 10 sets of tickets that they were giving away tickets to go see Alan Jackson and Brooks&Dunn, so I did a litle web surfing and found the guitar and enterd the contest.
About 2 hours later I got a message saying that I won the tickets for the show, they would be at will call just to go get them. I was a little shocked, because I don't usually win things like that but hey it worked, it was a beautiful night out and we sat on the lawn. (and no I dont think i've seen the lawn that full in a long time, and it's been awhile sit i've sat there....kinda got spoiled inside)
All in all it was a great night, a free concert under the stars...ok clouds, but it never rained. And a great couple of acts.
Let's just hope this means my luck is changing. WOOHOO!!!
