Easter, better late than never.

This year Easter was a little delayed because oif some family health issues, so we're having "Easter" dinner tomorrow.

I wanted to help out the best that I could, so my contribution to dinner was dessert. I went waivered on what I was going to make and after a lot of searching and looking online and though books and magazines I came up with cupcakes, but the real question was, what kind?

Do I make something basic? Chocolate? Vanilla? Red Velvet? All are good, but still not what I wanted to do. Lemon, strawberry, raspberry, and still not good enough. I needed something original. Then I was shopping one afternoon and saw a package of Peeps, and it came to me I remembered a picture of a cake that I saw before that had the Peeps on it, so why couldn't I make my cupcakes that way.

But of course I couldn't just put the bunnies on the cake, I needed to make the bunnies hiding eggs in the grass and that is exactly what I did.

I just made a basic white cake and buttercream icing, but I used a whole lot of green food coloring and here is the final result. I can't wait to taste them.

Yarnbombing!! It's not just for bridal bouquets anymore.

I haven't been knitting the way I used to be, I guess life just gets in the way. I've been so busy with work, the sweater that I'm working on only gets picked up when I go to my Stitch n Bitch group.

So this weekend we were having a little going away party for one of the members of my local group, so I knew I had to do something special for her, and yarnbombing some cupcakes were just the ticket.

Just had to share.

 

Sour Cream Noodle Bake.

"Cheesy Noodley Goodness"

That's the best way to describe the Sour Cream Noodle Bake from The Pioneer Woman, Ree Drumond. I love her recipes, they so easy and well explained, she even gives great instructions and pictures to work with.

This recipe spread like wildfire though The Nest, the only thing I did a little different was I tried to make it a little bit healtier by using fat free cream cheese, fat free sour cream, low fat cheddar, and ground turkey. This way you don't lose any taste, but you will lose a ton of the calories.

I do have to say it's not a quick an easy one pot meal, but it was yummy.

The Traveling Doctor.

This is another "Traveling Woman" Shawl that I knit. This one is a gift that I was asked to knit for my father for one of his doctors.

I loved the way it came out, and I love the colors. I used Patons Lace in Bonfire. And if you look really close it does look like fire.

Shutterfly....It's a fabulous thing.

I can only say Shutterfly has always held a special little part of my heart. I discovered them a few years back and in that time I've ordered prints from made several Shutterfly Photo Books including my wedding guest book, my wedding album parents albums, and an album for our favorite little Flower Girl. We've also done holiday cards from Shutterfly for Mother's Day and Father's Day. This year I'm even thinking of doing a Valentines Day card for Doug, maybe if he's lucky I'll use one of my fabulous boudoir pictures for that one.

Now that the holidays are rapidly approaching, we've made our appointment with a photographer and we're going to use them for our Christmas Cards and maybe even some cute Gift Tags this way everyone will know who their gifts came from.

A hat for Little Miss May.

I was asked to knit a hat for the most adorable Little Miss May. I knew it had to be as precious as she is, so I had my work cut out for me.

So after a little searching for the perfect pattern (we had a picture of what the hat was to look like) I bought the yarn and started knitting.

I love the way it came out, I hope it's perfect for Little Miss May.

Triangle Lace Shawl

This was my first attempt at a triangle lace shawl. I've always loved them, but was always a little bit intimidated by them. It was the shaping and the lace that scared me, I was afraid, it wouldn't come out right.

But guess what.....it did.

I'm not a fan of knitting from charts, so I knew I had to find the perfect pattern, something that had instructions written out. I found Traveling Woman and I liked the stockinette with the lace border, it was really pretty.

I used some pretty sock yarn and this is my finished product.

As much as I love pumpkin, I love Food Netork more.

Again watchinc Food Network, Down home with the Neeleys, they were making a usual southern bar-b-q they had a wonderful recipe for Sweet Potato Cookies and figured since people make sweet potato pie, instead of pumpkin pie, why couldn't I change up the cookies and make pumpkin cookies.

So I did!!

And they came out wonderful. I just replaced the pureed sweet potato for pureed pumpkin. All I can say is yum.

The only small snafu that I had was, I didn't have any powdered sugar, so they were bare, and I acutally think they tasted great even without the glaze.

The making of a hockey season.

The 10th season of the Bridgeport Soundtigers the top AHL affilate of the New York Islanders starts in one week and one day, but before they can start they season they need a little ice.

So here it is, the ice that will bring us laughter and tears, blood and pain, a hopefully a Calder Cup winning championship season.

I love Pumpkin!!

I don't know if it's the fall season or just the deliciousness of that big beautiful orange gourd. But I love everything about it, especially the color.

While web surfing I came across this fabulous Pumpkin Sugar Scrub and I knew I had to try it, and here's how it came out.

The instructions say to use as a mask and scrub, so that's what I did, also when I had it all mixed, I thought the 3 tablespoons of sugar that it was calling for wasn't enough "scrub" for me, so I added another 3 tablespoons and it worked perfect. After it was done, my skin felt super moisturize and smooth. I will make this again.

5 Tablespoons of Pumpkin



3 Tablespoons of Sugar



1/2 Teaspoon of oil (I cheated and used olive oil)

Baby Suprise Jacket.

I love the idea of this cute jacket that is knit in one piece. As you follow the pattern along it's a bit strange, but in the end it really does work out well. I can't believe how easy it actually was. All in all I think it was a grand total of about 2 or 3 hours a day for a week, so it went pretty quick.

The hardest thing about it was all the counting. The increase rows just didn't work well with the place markers.

I will make this again and next time I will try to use a self striping yarn for a little more color.
